I'm thrilled that people can get something out of my music. I have to attribute that to integrity and honesty. I've found that people aren't really as different as they sometimes seem. We all have joy and tragedy in our lives. So it only follows that if I write something from my heart and stay true to myself, others will easily identify.

"I hoped to sell 50,000 records. My main goals were to sing my heart out, to challenge myself vocally, to find beautiful music that has great stories and to express what I love about the musicality of different languages. And if 10 people bought it, I'd be thrilled that 10 people listened to it. And if it was 10 million, I'd be thrilled that 10 million people listened to it. This is just beyond any dream that I could have possibly had."

"Here’s the scoop boys and girls – take control. Promote yourself, invest in yourself, write, write, write. You have the internet – use it. Give your music away – just get people to your shows and get them to buy a tee shirt, which is not so easily pirated. Network - Myspace is a veritable treasure chest of talent if you can find it amongst the millions. Find the right people to attach yourself to and you never know what that outcome will be."

"I write the lyrics first, then the music," he says. "I don't want to try to be someone I'm not, because people easily see through that. So I only write about my own experiences, things I know and enjoy. Like my pets. I can't write about lovey or coupley things."

More and more, I am becoming convinced that truly I have a created a problem and have made a mistake. Although very late, with all honesty...I am asking for forgiveness from all of you, it was my fault for bringing Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan and allowing them to choke your necks. If this was my mistake, then I am truly sorry. Wait, this was more than a mistake. This was a tragedy that I brought into the lives of my people. So...so please allow me, allow me to help save you from that crisis.

It's a feature of our age that if you write a work of fiction, everyone assumes that the people and events in it are disguised biography — but if you write your biography, it's equally assumed you're lying your head off. This last may be true, at any rate of poets: Plato said that poets should be excluded from the ideal republic because they are such liars. I am a poet, and I affirm that this is true. About no subject are poets tempted to lie so much as about their own lives; I know one of them who has floated at least five versions of his autobiography, none of them true. I of course — being also a novelist — am a much more truthful person than that. But since poets lie, how can you believe me?
