It is not better that all felony suspects die than that they escape. Where the suspect poses no immediate threat to the officer and no threat to others, the harm resulting from failing to apprehend him does not justify the use of deadly force to do so. It is no doubt unfortunate when a suspect who is in sight escapes, but the fact that the police arrive a little late or are a little slower afoot does not always justify killing the suspect.

I have supported the President in his efforts to disarm Saddam Hussein. I think Iraq poses a threat to the region; he poses a threat to our interests both abroad and here at home. And, I think it is important for the President to build support among our allies, to build support at the UN for what he's doing, but that face is that Saddam Hussein over last 11 years has refused to obey 16 UN resolutions. He is a megalomaniac. He's been a threat to his own people. And we can't negotiate with him in the same way that we've been able to negotiate with the heads of other opposing nations.

Here was an action that touched on raw and sensitive nerves in a community that had already undergone the trauma of two military takeovers. There was an undoubted threat to public order, welfare and freedom. I suspect the psychological pressure associated with that crisis caused the first mental blackout I had ever suffered. Attempted Carjacking Caught on Surveillance Video
Hacienda Heights, April 27, 2006 - An attempted carjacking is caught on surveillance video and now police are looking for the suspect.
A woman was pumping gas last night at a Chevron station on 7th Street in Hacienda Heights when a man confronted her. The video shows the woman trying to get away when the suspect tackles her to the ground.
The woman managed to fight him off and he eventually got up and ran away.
The young woman appeared to be okay as she described the attack to investigators.Jack Thompson
