Rani is the best co star I've ever worked with. She is beautiful and a brilliant actor.

We've been cast in very unusual roles in Black. And then in KANK we were a very different kind of father-in-law and daughter-in-law. And now we play another very different and unusual father-in-law and daughter-in-law in Baabul. I guess we're lucky to have our acting talents being tested in such unusual ways. I'm very fortunate to get such unusual opportunities. Rani is a terrific co-star and it’s a pleasure to work with her. All of us— Jaya, Abhishek and I are very fond of her.

She's a very caring girl and a thorough professional on camera.

I think Kajol is a natural. And I think Rani is a very well-crafted actress. She knows her craft very well.

I think she is a very good actress. I have always liked her and I envy her in a way because my dad is a big fan of hers.

Rani is a great co-star, love working with her I think our chemistry is special, and Hum Tum was a great film and now with Kunal Kohli now again we have just done another movie just now so I am really looking forward to that she is a great actor.

I’ve just gone through a life-changing experience. It’s called Black… Mr Bachchan’s is the best performance I’ve seen by a male actor. And Rani? My God! When I remember how I’d scream instructions at her during Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I wonder what I was doing! Rani has surpassed not just her contemporaries but almost everything done by actresses in our cinema in the last 50 years.

"Film star," "movie star" — whatever they want to try to call you is limiting, in the sense that I think an actor has to be able to play characters. To separate these things — you know: "leading man," "action hero," "character actor," stuff like that — I guess if I want to be close to anything, it would be a character actor, which is what I think an actor should be. So any of that "movie star" stuff, I just don't buy it. It just doesn't make sense to me.

[On the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai role]And Rani was so outstandingly beautiful. I saw her on television in a trailer of Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. And I thought she had the most stunning face I'd seen. And I said [to Karan] why don't you ask Rani to do it?

I think of myself as an actor and not a movie star. I like doing movies; I enjoy it. But, essentially, I'm a theater actor. That's the only place I feel like I actually am a star. In the theater, I can put people in the seats and sell tickets.
