I am bored to talk of my films. I cannot even bear to see most of them. Mumtaz, November, 1966 (Filmfare, December 7, 2011)

My kids were in boarding school. I was a bit bored of just jet setting from one country to another. So I came to India to do Aandhiyaan for a lark. I think it was one of David Dhawan's best films, even better than Aankhen. But I was heartbroken when it flopped. - Mumtaz (Filmfare, 7 December 2011)

On her passion for acting, Mumtaz said I used to feel a sort of emptiness before I started acting but not any longer... If I were not an actress, Id have gone crazy. December 1966 (Filmfare, December 7, 2011)

Women are meant to be loved and not understood. Mumtaz, November, 1970 (Filmfare, December 7, 2011)

I am the kind of guy who believes that films are supposed to be entertainment. I do not subscribe much to movies that leave you with a lingering feeling, make you feel angry or depressed. I am not yet ready to make films like that. I have grown up with films that are entertaining. Since I am such a huge fan of entertainment, I believe that the films that I do should also be entertaining, people can talk about it for three days and forget about it.

When asked which performances she is most proud of, Mumtaz said: "I was okay, nothing great at all. I liked Khilona that fetched me the Filmfare Best Actress Award. I also liked myself in Roop Tera Mastana, Aaina and Tere Mere Sapne. I should have won the Best Actress Award for Tere Mere Sapne. I really deserved it. Instead it went to Asha Parekh for Kati Patang in which she wore white and stood in front of piano doing precious little. Khair, jaane do (let it go). God has given me so much."
