One thing I have learned in a long life: that all our science, measured against reality, is primitive and childlike—and yet it is the most precious thing we have.

No human society is too primitive to have some kind of literature. The only thing is that primitive literature hasn't yet become distinguished from other aspects of life: it's still embedded in religion, magic and social ceremonies.
Northrop Frye
One thing I learned a long time ago was my fretboard, in terms of all the scales in all the positions...You have to learn it - there are no two ways about it. I shift between positions so easily now that I really don't have to think about them much...I would suggest starting your scale education with the major and minor scales, and after that, diminished, augmented and whole-tone. Then depending on what kind of music you want to play, the modes should be learned. My theory about this kind of thing is that you should learn it all. Once you've learned it you can play whatever you want to play, and i think that your playing will be more advanced, and you'll have a better understanding of the insstrument.
Al Di Meola
The most human thing about anyone is a thing he learns and...and earns. It’s a thing he can’t have when he’s very young; if he gets it at all, he gets it after a long search and a deep conviction. After that it’s truly part of him as long as he lives.
Theodore Sturgeon
Our time’s the most precious thing we’ve got to offer folks, and the worst thing a body can do is to take it away from us.
Charles de Lint
The great thing about The Simple Life is that it's a reality show but not based on my reality... It has nothing to do with my life or my home or my relationships or anything. I'm not open to anything like that.
