If you have accomplished all that you have planned for yourself, you have not planned enough.
--
In Quote, Unquote (1977) by Lloyd Cory, p. 6, this statement was simply attributed to the Meggido Message which is the name of a publication by the Meggido Church, but immediately following a quote by Hale. This may have led to it being attributed to Hale in The Quotable Manager : Inspiration for Business and Life (2006) by Joel J. Weiss, p. 128; a similar expression "If you have achieved all you have planned for yourself, you have not planned enough" occurs in two works by John Mason: Let Go of Whatever Makes You Stop (1994), p. 79, and Know Your Limits — Then Ignore Them (2000), p. 123

There are moments or periods when it would be wonderful to plan something and do it and have the thing only do what you planned to do, and then, there are other times when the destruction of those planned things becomes interesting to you. So then, it becomes a question of destroying – of destroying the planned forms; it’s like an escape, it’s something to do, something to begin the situation. You yourself, you don’t decide, but if you want to paint, you have to find out some way to start this thing off, whether it is painting it out or putting it in..

Well, I think one thing that we can do, quite simply, is to withhold funding from Planned Parenthood. It's the largest provider of abortion in the United States. They are a billion-dollar industry. As a matter of fact, the head of Planned Parenthood in Illinois said that Planned Parenthood wants to be the LensCrafters of Big Abortion.

You don't have to go to Planned Parenthood to get your cholesterol or your blood pressure checked. If you want an abortion, you go to Planned Parenthood, and that's well over 90% of what Planned Parenthood does.

Everything in my life is planned. It adds stability, but it makes me yearn for something that's not planned, that's spontaneous.

This fact, the surfacing of structure in an undeliberate action, is too big to take on here, but it was enough to convince me that the structuralists—the advocates of planning music before you hear or care what the plan gives you—were right: do not rely on unplanned music; it comes out as though it were planned, but planned by someone you cross the street to avoid.
